Tits Information page

Description
Small, mainly arboreal, sombre-coloured passerines of savanna, karoo, scrubland and fynbos, often joining mixed-species flocks. They feed mainly on invertebrates that they glean from trees. They will also eat fruit and flower buds and are occasionally nectarivorous.
They are monogamous and commonly cooperative breeders. They nest in tree cavities, old woodpecker of barbet holes, fence posts, crevaces, ground holes or nest boxes. The nest is formed from a small pad of grass, hair, lichen etc. They lay 3 - 5 white eggs, heavily speckled and blotched with red, brown and grey.
