The bright lemon-yellow underparts and broad, black breast band are diagnostic. The vivid yellow tip to the dark green tail is conspicuous in flight.
Juvenile lacks the breast band of adult and is greyish green below.
Fynbos, Karoo scrub and suburban gardens.
These shy birds feed on a diet of insects, lizards, frogs and snakes.
Very varied, but usually a 'bok-bok-kik'.
