West Coast National Park
The entrance to the park is some 100km north of Cape Town, off the R27 highway.
The main areas of interest are the tranquil waters of Langebaan Lagoon, Postberg Flower Reserve and Atlantic coastline. Fauna roaming the park include eland, red hartebeest, Cape grysbok, caracal and rock dassie. Bird watchers can spot waders, black harrier and flamingos amongst many others from three birdhides in the park.
And, drive carefully, watch for turtles.
