Jameson's firefinch
Appearance
The crown, nape, back and wing coverts are suffused with pink (the back and wings of all African Firefinches are a dark grey-brown in all races.
Male is pink below with a black undertail. Female has pinkish buff underparts. Both sexes have white spots on the flanks. Juvenile resembles female, but is duller.
Habitat
Thickets and grassy tangles in thornveld.
Call
A tinkling trill, similar to that of African Firefinch buth higher pitched and interspersed with a sharp 'vit-vit-vit'.
