Cape clapper lark

Appearance
Differs from the other clapper larks in display and range. Appears dark overall at long range, with richly marked greyish upperparts. Underparts are rich rufous with dark streaking. Shy and skulking when not displaying and difficult to flush.
Habitat
Karoo scrub and coastal fynbos, especially in areas with many restios.
Call
Long, ascending whistle 'pooooooeeeeee', preceded by faster wing-clapping than Eastern Clapper Lark.
