Black-collared barbet
Appearance
The bright red face and throat, broadly bordered with black, are diagnostic. A very rare colour variant has a yellow face and throat.
Juvenile's. head and throat are dark brown, streaked with orange and red
Habitat
Forests, woodland, savanna and wooded suburbs.
Call
Ringing duet starting with a harsh 'krrr-krrrr' and exploding into a 'tooo puudly tooo puudly', the 'tooo' being higher pitched.
