(Southern) Ant-eating chat

Appearance
In flights this species is easily distinguished from other dark chats by the consipcuous white patches on the primaries. At rest it appears very plump and short-tailed, and has an upright stand.
Male is very dark brown and has a white shoulder patch. Female is paler brown than male. Juvenile resembles female but is more mottled.
Habitat
Grassland dotted with termite mounds, and open, sandy or stony areas.
Call
A short, sharp 'peek' or 'piek'.
