Lion drinking

Drinking
Lions drink water when available, but otherwise, get required moisture from their prey or from plants like tsamma melons in the Kalahari desert.
Especially after feeding, lions have a tendency to drink water if a source is within easy reach.
Lions use their tongues to lap up water. Like other members of the Felidae (cats) family, a lion's tongue is covered in tiny, backward-facing spikes known as papillae. These provide a large surface area for the water to cling to and act like miniature cups that scoop up the water.
