Elephant drinking
Water
An elephant drinks between 70-200 litres of water per day.
Elephants can find water from multiple resources like ponds, lakes, and rivers. Elephants with tusks often dig holes in the ground to find drinking water for themselves. They use their trunk to suck up water which is squirted into the mouth. They can take up to nine liters of water at one time.
Baby elephants need to learn how to use their trunks for drinking. Until then, baby elephants will kneel to drink directly from the water source through their mouths.
