White-crested helmet-shrike
Appearance
The grey crown, white collar, white flashes in the wings and white outer tail feathers are diagnotic. it is a gregarious and consicuous species.
Juvenile is duller than adult, with a brown eye; it lacks the yellow eye-ring and black ear coverts.
Habitat
Mixed woodland and thornveld.
Call
A repeated 'cherow', often taken up by the group in chorus.
