White-breasted cormorant
Appearance
The largest cormorant of the region. Adult is glossy black with a white throat and breast, and a bright yellow patch at the base of the bill. During breeding season it has white flank patches.
Juvenile and immature are dark brown with white underparts.
Habitat
Coastal and fresh waters.
Call
Silent except for cackling and hissing at breeding colonies when grunts and squeals are uttered.
