Natal spurfowl (previously: Natal francolin)
Similar to the larger Red-necked Spurfowl but lacks bare red skin around the eyes and on the throat. Generally brown above and barred and speckled black and white below.
Juvenile resembles adult but has less speckling below and is darker brown on the breast and back.
Wooded areas, especially bush tickets along rivers and on hill slopes.
A raucous, unmusical screeching.
