Appearance
Distinguished from similar Racket-tailed Roller by its obviously lilac (not blue) breast, generally paler coloration, turquoise, not brown, crown and pointed, elongated outer tail feathers (that are absent during moult).
Juvenile lacks the elongated tail feathers but the lilac-coloured breast differentiates it from juvenile European and Racket-tailed Rollers.
Habitat
Savanna. Perches conspicuously, often along telephone lines.
Call
Harsh squawks and screams given when displaying.
