African giant millipede
Appearance
Antennae short. head tucked in, pointing downwards. 40 - 60 segments. Glossy black or with alternating yellow and black bands. Up to 120 pairs of legs. female lays several hundred pinhead-sized eggs. Young hatch with three pairs of legs, aquiring more at each moult.
Habitat
Throughout southern Africa, less common in dry areas.
