Appearance
The greyish brown body and head, conspicuous black face patch, barred wings and dark red rump and flanks render this species unmistakable.
Female and juvenile are duller versions of male.
Habitat
Grassy areas and thick tangles in dry thornveld.
Call
A high-pitched 'chuloweee'.
