African barred owlet


Appearance
This species might be confused with Pearl-spotted Owlet, from which it differs in being larger and having barred head, upperparts and tail and conspicuous white edging to the scapulars.
Juvenile is less distinctly spotted below than adult.

Habitat
Mature woodland and riparian gallery forests.

Call
a soft, frequently repeated 'kerrr-kerrr-kerrr' and a 'trru'trrre'.
